(SVU photo)SVU Presents Musical Drama About Moses Oct. 24-25, Oct. 30-Nov. 1 Southern Virginia University’s theatre department will present the East Coast premiere of “Stone Tables,” a musical drama about the life of Moses, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24-25, and Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30-Nov. The musical follows the life of Moses from his birth to death. It first debuted at Brigham Young University in 1973 after Card wrote a five-act play and sent it to Charles Whitman, a theatre professor at BYU. Whitman then asked Stoddard, an undergraduate at the time, to put parts of it to music. Throughout the years, Stoddard and Card have transformed and changed the musical a number of times, including adding more songs. The production is directed by Robert Stoddard with musical assistance from LaRae Carter, a visiting assistant professor music.
